INTERPRETIVE! On every guided tour you will gain at least a little knowledge of, and appreciation for, the canyon; its geology, flora and fauna, its inhabitants - (past and present -- including Sacajawea) and the force and beauty of its wild river. BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE! Chris: leader of the Osgood pack who, for his leadership skills, inner personal strengths and attention to safety issues, relies on his military training as a staff sergeant in the Marine Corps reserves. Chris's past also includes a deployment to Iraq , plus lots of experience in safety and environmental issues (it's been a large part of his work place duties the last twelve years).

WILDLIFE! On any trip there is a good chance of seeing Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Moose, River Otter, Black Bear, Kookaburra, Osprey, Golden Eagle and the best chance on the entire river to spy the elusive Mountain Goat! ... (Well, the "American Kookaburra", the Kingfisher).
KOOKABURRA is owned and operated by Chris, April, Dave and Sharon Osgood out of Salmon, Idaho . We are Licensed and Bonded outfitters commercially permitted by the U.S.F.S. and the B.L.M. to run rafting trips on the Salmon River, from North Fork west to Corn Creek for steelhead fishing, fly fishing, chucker hunting and (whitewater trips and tours) and from Iron Creek north through Salmon to North Fork for fly fishing, and (flatwater trips). As a small local company we have just a few employees who are carefully chosen for their personality and dedication to guest services as much as for their canyon knowledge and river expertise. 
SAFETY! is our primary concern. White water rafting trips and guided tours do not commence if the water level is deemed unsafe. All guests are issued, and are required to wear at all times while on the river, a class 5 Personal Floatation Device (PFD). Each guide is trained in emergency first aid and carries with them on each boat an emergency first aid kit. In addition, a professional first-aid kit will be available on each trip. All guests will receive a Safety Clinic prior to launch. 
CULINARY DELIGHTS! We are very proud to offer truly exceptional food on all our trips. For example: on our one day trips we serve a delicious, exotic lunch cooked right beside the river. "Satay Daging" is an Indonesian specialty dish featuring grilled marinated beef coupled with a spicy coconut peanut sauce, served with an authentic Indonesian vegetable plate and steamed rice. 
Fresh fruit and vegetables are integral to our meals so the vegetarian guest will find that our meals are complete without the need for modification. Other dietary restrictions may be accommodated on our multi-day trips, however advance notice is appreciated.
